CAMBRIDGE, U.K. -- 3G LAB, the multimedia software developer for next-generation mobile communications, and OSE Systems, Inc, the worldwide leader of real-time operating system (RTOS) technology for the wireless market, today announced that they will integrate the OSE Wireless Platform and 3G LAB's Trigenix User Interface Engine. The integration provides handset manufacturers with a dynamic and reliable software solution that will accelerate the development of customisable mobile phones with user interfaces (UIs) that network operators can easily update, brand and personalise over the air. With customers such as Ericsson, Samsung and Agere, OSE Systems already addresses the total range of handsets, from mass consumer handsets to high-end smart phones. The runtime software update capabilities of the OSE Wireless Platform is a perfect match with Trigenix, 3G LAB's universal graphical user interface engine for mobile devices. The joint solution enables device manufacturers and network operators to update the functionality and brand the user interface on handsets, exploiting the colour screens and increased functionality of the phones. "In today's mobile phone industry, handset manufacturers and network operators are both working towards the same goals - to rapidly build highly customisable phones that allow easy branding and promotion of services," said Anders Flodin, Director of Strategic Alliances at OSE Systems. "The joint OSE and 3G LAB solution provides handset manufacturers with the means to rapidly develop advanced mobile phones with user interfaces that operators can customise, brand and upgrade over the air."
