Nortel Aids Telus 3G Launch

TORONTO -- TELUS Mobility today launched its third generation (3G) CDMA2000 1X wireless network across Canada, using packet core, access and radio equipment from Nortel Networks (NYSE:NT) (TSX:NT.) to serve western Canada -- including Vancouver and Victoria, British Columbia, and Calgary and Edmonton, Alberta.TELUS Mobility's CDMA2000 1X network offers users fast and convenient mobile access to the Internet, corporate intranets, and other online services, as well as increased calling capacity and improved handset battery life."As TELUS Mobility looked to evolve our network to meet growing client demands for new mobile Internet services, we turned to Nortel Networks as a key provider of the equipment necessary for a smooth transition to 3G," said Eros Spadotto, executive vice president and chief technology officer, TELUS Mobility.
